Beautiful Sandara Park

SANDARA PARK is a Korean actress/singer/dancer who first rose to fame in the Philippines. Sandara is the first runner-up of a talent reality show by ABS-CBN and later invaded the Philippines' showbiz scene. Park then moved to South Korea and made a name for herself there and even more popular when Sandara became a member of the all female singing sensation 2NE1.

Sandara Park was born on November 12, 1984 in Busan, South Korea. Due to financial difficulties the family is experiencing in Korea, they migrated to the Philippines, particularly in Pasay City, and started a business there. In the Philippines, Sandara studied English and Chinese since no one in the family speaks the language. Sandara then learned to speak the Philippine language Filipino and became fluent to it. This can be attested to the interviews she had which she used Filipino/Tagalog fluently.

Sandara's star began to shine when she auditioned for the Star Circle Quest of ABS-CBN, which is a reality show intended to search for new talents for the television network. She passed the auditions and officially entered the show with several able contestants. Sandara's charm continued to get the support of the Filipinos until the grand finals which placed her as first runner-up behind the grand winner Hero Angeles.

After her stint in Star Circle Quest, Sandara became one of the newest member of Star Magic, ABS-CBN's elite circle of homegrown talents. She was also graced with several product endorsements and some TV commercials.

Sandara's first projet in ABS-CBN was "Sandara's Romance" which featured Korean dramas which were narrated by her. At the same time, Sandara also starred in "SCQ Reload: OK Ako!" and as host and performer in "ASAP Fanatic". Her first primetime TV appearance was "Krystala" topbilled by Judy Ann Santos.

Sandara Park then continue to appear in different ABS-CBN TV shows such as "SCQ Reload: Kilig Ako!", "Maalaala Mo Kaya", "Komiks: Machete", "Crazy For You", "O-Ha!", "Gudtaym", "Star Magic Presents: Bongga" and Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv". She was also the voice of Jamie Robinson in the Tagalog dub of Voltes V. Just before she returned to Korea, she starred in Dalawang Tisoy" as Kim in C/S 9 network.

Sandara's first movie appearance was a cameo role in "Volta" starred by Ai-Ai Delas Alas. She then starred in "Bcuz Of You" opposite Hero Angeles as her love interest, together with other hot love teams at that time - Kristine Hermosa and Diether Ocampo, and Geoff Eigenmann and Heart Evangelista. The movie consisted of three different episodes. In their episode, Sandara played the role of a Korean tourist who was lost in the Philippines during an excursion and met a tourist guide portrayed by Hero Angeles.

Her next movie with Angeles "Can This Be Love" was a big hit and earned P99 million in the box office. In the movie, Sandara still portrays the role of a Korean girl but this time, as an exchange scholar from Korea. Hero Angeles also portrays the role of a poor student and met Sandara. Their cultural differences provided the twists in the story and the movie was praised by various movie critics especially the improvement in the acting skills of Sandara.

Sandara's next movie was "D' Lucky Ones" but this time she was paired with Joseph Bitangcol ans co-starred with Eugene Domingo and Pokwang. Her last movie in the Philippines before moving back to Korea was "Super Noypi", a fantasy film which was an official entry to the 3nd Metro Manila Film Festival, where she portrayed the character of Michie who had a magic that enables her to create and control fire and ice.

In August 2007, Sandara and her family moved back to South Korea leaving her showbiz career in the Philippines. When they arrived in Korea, YG Entertainment immediately signed her as their talent. Sandara joined several bands in Korea such as Big Bang, Se7en, Jinusean, Lexy and 1TYM. She was noticed in her appearance in Gummy's Music Video for the song "I'm Sorry" together with T.O.P. of Big Bang.

Sandara joined Korean entertainment mainstream when she joined an all-female group 2NE1 under YG Entertainment. The members of the group are Park Boom, CL, Gong Minji and Sandara who is know then as "Dara". They are considered as the female version of Big Bang and they quickly gained a huge following not only in Korea but also from other countries.

2NE1 first gained popularity when they appeared in a commercial by LG Phone Lollipop. They appeared in both the music video and commercial of "Lollipop". The group's debut solo was "Fire" in which they released two versions of music video for the song. The song was an instant hit and it holds its number one position in weeks.

Another song, "I Don't Care", was released two months later and immediately hit the number one on the charts on very same day it was released.

It can be noted by the way, that Sandara has a singing career in the Philippines before she moved back to Korea. Her self-titled debut album produced the hit song "In Or Out" and the jingle for the Rejoice Shampoo commercial "Walang sabit". The album was a Certified Double Platinum which sold more than 60,000 copies after six months.

Sandara made a visit to the Philippines when she was given a break by YG Enertainment in August, 2009. She made some guest appearances in ABS-CBN shows and had a short reunion with some of her celebrity friends.

After Sandara's (re)visit to the Philippines, she immediately worked for her solo single titled "Kiss". Sandara is the first member of 2NE1 to have a solo single that is to be included in the group's latest album (to be) released on November, 2009.
